Q: Who can join the Mentor Marlins Swim Team?

A: Anyone can join as long as you are not a current member of another SSL swim team. You must petition the league in order to switch teams.

Q: Is it true that the oldest age for swimmers has changed from 16 to 18 years old?

A: Yes, 16 - 18 can register to swim at practices with our team and can swim exhibition at meets with the 13-15 age group. They will not swim at Champs.

Q: What date does Marlins practice start?

A: Tuesday June 14th, 2011

Q: What time does practice start in the morning and where?

A: (13-15) 7:00am - 8:45am, (11-12) 7:00am - 8:30am,
(9-10 and 8 and unders) - 8:15am - 9:45am @ Mentor Civic Center Pool

Q: What time do the meets start and how often are they?

A: Meets are every week on Saturdays starting sometime in the middle of June. Meets run thru the end of July with Championships in the early August. Swimmers are expected to be in the water at 7:00am for warm ups. Meets last until around 12:00 noon. Championships last all day.

Q: When will spirit wear & swim suits be available for purchase?

A: Orders have now ended.

Q: When will online registration be available?

A: Registration for the 2011 season has ended. See you next year.

Q: Can I pay with a traditional paper check?

A: No, you must register online.

Q: Will I be able to pay using a checking account online?

A: Yes. Only if you have a Paypal account. Credit cards will be accepted if you do not have a Paypal account.

Q: What if I do not have a Paypal account?

A: You will not have to have a Paypal account to make your registration payment. If you do have a Paypal account, you may pay using funds from that account.

Q: As a parent, am I required to help with team meets?

A: YES. All families are needed to help ensure a smooth swim meet. There are several jobs that need to be done. You can register for these jobs at the parent meeting on May 21, 2011 at Garfield Park Lounge

Q: Do you have to compete in every meet?

A: No, but we would like for you to swim in every meet. You must practice at least 3 times in the current week to swim in that meet at the end of that week. You must swim in 3 dual meets to be entered in Championships.

Q: What if my child has never been on a swim team before? What is required for my child to join?

A: You must be able to swim 1 lap of the pool without stopping (25 meters).

Q: When will registration end?

A: June 17th - Registration has ended.
